Avoided escalation mail and huge embarrassment

After having long discussions with my old delivery point of contact, I understood that it may take very little bandwidth from my day and I can manage things for the next few days. Now, I want to convey this to my manager and get his approval as well and there are two complications associated with it. One I can go ahead and work directly on old service request without even getting the nod from my manager since I have entire knowledge about the project and no one else can fill my shoes in short span of time. Second, even if I support my old service request without m my manager’s approval, it would backfire me as he was involved in the mail trail and in future may raise concern that why it was not brought to his notice. So, to avoid all nuisances and escalation mails, I started to walk towards my manager cabin and was detailed about the new super request from my previous work. I just got away from escalation by just having a conversation with my manager, because he conveyed to me that he was about to send rejection mail to my old delivery team that I am held up with new work and I cannot be supporting closer service request after 2 weeks. Thankfully, I stopped my manger from dropping that mail to all Team members and started to explain the need and amount of effort required from my end. Oscillation about the nature of work

So, I had to work with same onsite team with whom I had worked earlier and the same offshore delivery lead with whom I had issues about his nature of the work. I had ownership of setting up call between both onsite and offshore team, and the call started with all required introduction about the team and service request details. After completion of call, gathering all required information for my work, I was bit relieved as I had most of the standard slides with me and only few slides had to be recreated with the information shared. Now, I had oscillation about the nature of the work, whether it would be simple or would it get complicated each day with new requirement shared by client and onsite team. Till next day’s call, all I had to do was gather some slides from the repository and keep empty slides for the onsite team to fill in. Work came out of nowhere and got little irritated

For past few days, I didn’t have much work to do and was having quite off time in the office. Out of nowhere I got mail from another team, with whom I used to work earlier, and I was assigned to support all opportunities coming from that team. The mail from the team also had complicated request details, which might take considerable amount of time for me to complete the task and I also wanted to check with irritating delivery lead, with whom I was working earlier to support such requests. So, I was getting prepared to support this request and out of nowhere one more teammate was asking me to do some work and to drop mail with background on the opportunity. Even though the approach was valid, I was completely irritated to get such instructions from teammate out of nowhere, usually he doesn’t get involved for such requests. Finally, slide was shared, and opportunity was closed

After the request from on-site delivery lead about the slide to the offshore delivery lead, he was searching in his repository for the relevant slide and we were continuing to review the other slides. Offshore delivery lead after some time shared the slide to the entire team and was discussing about the importance of the slide. Everyone agreed to the fact that the slide was important and closed the conversation, so that we can move ahead with other slides and update information based on customer requirements. Other slides were updated, and I was working on some minor tweaks to the deck. Suddenly, the on-site POC was requesting me to be available in the bridge to discuss on other updates and was confirming that my slide was far better than the slide shared by the offshore lead and he will update the slide shared by me. Accepting the fact that my teammate is leaving the team

After hearing from my teammate that she is leaving the team to join new team and she is moving immediately in next few days, I couldn’t digest that fact. I was completely shell shocked; I couldn’t accept the fact that she is moving to new team and that too within next few days. It took some time for me to get back to normal and I was really worried of the fact that I would be all alone in my team now. I was really pushed to find new job or move to new team, however I wanted to be in the team at least for few more months, as my promotion is due anytime and if switch to new team it would like pressing reset button to my career. I calmed myself for few hours and was refreshing my memories to happy moments, so that I don’t get down or feel too bad in my team. Little bit of work for the new opportunity

The Onsite delivery team had requested us to come with the standard solution components to be reviewed and the offshore delivery person request some standard solution deck for his reference. Since I was collating the required documents for my entire team, getting the standard solution sets was quite easy for me and was able to complete it in few mins in the day. Rest of the time I was again relaxing myself and was browsing through random videos in internet. So, few days go on with the same routine and I was comfortably enjoying every bit of it. However, came the major twist to the tale, the client has responded to the questionnaire and in meantime there was one more request from that irritating team with tight deadline to complete another phase in the opportunity. By setting most of his books in the far future (unspecified but possibly 6000-8000 years), spread across the galaxy, Resnick is able to credibly draw in aliens (who do not feature heavily in his books, it must be said), mutants of all shapes and sizes and of course augmented humans, tricked out with the latest in implant technology as well as many gadgets, the science of which is explained believably without too much emphasis on the 'hard science' aspect of sci-fi. His far-future world is divided clearly into two distinct arenas. On the one side is the Oligarchy, a sprawling collection of humanity that spans countless planets across the galaxy - basically the standard far-future world of so many writers. On the other is the inner frontier, a far-future version of the old west with outlaws, gamblers, bounty hunters and lawmen. With the occasional mention of politics, the various currencies used throughout the galaxy, the many references to historic characters from the previous thousands of years, Resnick manages to make the future a totally consistent world similar to our own in so many ways. These books are packed with action and will probably appeal most to male readers. They are mostly "boys own" type adventures although he also wrote a prize-winning romance, The Dark Lady. If Resnick has the one failure it's that his heroes, despite their well defined flaws, are simply too perfect but since this is what we expect of heroes, this is a minor criticism at best.

Closing off nagging account team opportunity

The early morning call got over and I was too much frustrated, as I was not at all required for the call and the expectation was detailed beforehand. I was getting ready to reach office and the nagging account personal was not even able to hold for few minutes and was calling me to check whether I have reached office or not. I was again frustrated, as I got all required information last day itself and would start working on it once I have reached office, but still these nagging account personnel were behind me for each and every update. Now, I reached office and called the delivery expert to check on the status and it hardly took few mins for me to get the expectations and was already working on it. I have finished my work earlier than my expected deadline and I don’t want to share it with the team, because they would come up with unnecessary changes and I shared the final deck only few minutes before the call. As expected the account team came up with some silly changes and these changes could have been done by themselves. Finally finished weekend opportunity

I work working from home on a weekend and added to my frustration was that office Skype was not connecting to the server, had to login Skype from personal laptop and share screen through WebEx. With all these difficulties, I finally managed to finish the deck and could match the onsite accounts team’s expectations. The deck was finally submitted to the client early in week and as a standardized process in our team, I have been advised to get final deck from the delivery expert and I have reaching the delivery expert for sharing the final deck. Another weekend came and I was scared about the work, even though I still reached out to the delivery expert for the final deck and I have been conveyed it would be shared over weekend. I went to native for the weekend and used to check office mails occasionally and was hoping to get the final deck or some mail recognizing my work. Escape from rains and back to native

While I was packing my bags to escape from Chennai rains I heard someone ringing my doorbell and was sheet shocked to see that person at my door step. It was none other than my office colleague who has travelled from a long distance to check about my situation at my apartment. I felt refreshing and told him that I was planning to drive through the knee deep water to get out from Chennai and he said he would be with me guiding me in the water and if possible would join me in the drive. So, now I had enough confidence to drive in the water and took my car out of my apartment and drove the car into water. However, the drive was not as complicated as I thought and it was smoother as drove out of water within few seconds. After 3 days of struggle I was able to finally sense of freedom and to enjoy it, my colleague joins with me for the drive to my native. 22. Anticipation for new iPhone Xs

So, for the readers who were not aware of what’s happening, I own an iPhone 6 which I bought 4 years back and the battery was replaced under the Apple’s replacement program. The new iPhone was about to be launched at 12th September 2018 and there have been lot of rumors about the features and functionalities of the phone. However, none of the features and functionalities were tempting as it used for earlier iPhone's and during Steve Jobs era. The only thing which motivates me to buy the new iPhone is the camera setup and ageing iPhone 6 design. I didn’t want to upgrade to the new iPhone, due to its expensiveness and new technology being upgraded for every year. Other important factor to be considered is that my uncle is due to travel US later this year and I can get the new iPhone at the most affordable price and can get it at the earliest. Now I am in dilemma with both positives and negatives, whether to opt for new iPhone Xs or still can run the juice with 4-year-old iPhone. Continue reading at “G R Team Sites”
